The owner's binding undertakings
The owner undertakes 1. To maintain and preserve the land having regard to its scientific character, and in particular: a) to maintain the water regime of the wetter areas and ensure that there is no drainage on the site or areas adjacent to the site if such is likely to damage the scientific interest; b) to maintain a system of firebreaks to protect the heath in the event of accidental fire, more especially in the areas where there is public access and alongside trackways which will be mown or rotovated regularly; c) to maintain a diverse age structure of heather, with possible consideration given to occasional mowing or grazing of mature dry heath to rejuvenate the system with selective removal of invading pine or some areas of open heath if required, e.g. to improve rare reptile habitats; d) not to reclaim any of the heathland within the site of Special Scientific Interest and no…
