STAIR ESTATES

An area of outstanding scenic interest which includes Castle Kennedy Gardens. Located between two lochs, the gardens extend to 75 acres of carefully landscaped terraces and avenues.

Access

Directions: 3 miles east of Stranraer on A75. Castle Kennedy Gardens are open to the public from 1 April to the end of September 7 days a week from 10am. to 5pm. Access is available throughout the year on foot along the Southern Upland Way as marked on the map. The route is from the Black Stables entrance along the drive to the point where it joins the Castle Kennedy Gardens access. Walkers have access through the year along a route from Castle Kennedy Gardens through the Broadwood parallel to the Castle Kennedy/New Luce road, along the North shore of the Black Loch to the Sheuchan Burn and on along the drive to Balker Bridge and thence to Craigcaffie Bridge as marked on the map. Access is available throughout the year to the hill and open ground above Sheuchan & Chlenry. Access is gained to this from the bridge over the Sheuchan Burn, a walk up the Tongue Glen onto Sheuchan Hill & back to the main road above Chlenry as marked on the map. Small groups can view the interior of the White Loch Boathouse by prior appointment. Please contact the Earl of Stair, Stair Estates as per contact details.

The owner's binding undertakings

Reasonable steps will be taken for the maintenance, repair and preservation of the property and to secure reasonable public access thereto. To notify IR Capital Taxes immediately possession of the heritage property is relinquished whether it be by sale or gift or otherwise.
