DOWNES ESTATE
is a Palladian Mansion dating originally from 1692. As the former home of General Sir Redvers Buller, the house contains a large number of items relating to his military campaigns. The property is now predominantly a family home with elegant rooms hung with family portraits and a striking main staircase.

Directions: From Exeter follow the A377 towards Crediton. After passing Downes Mill on the right hand side and about a mile before reaching Crediton, the entrance to Downes will be found on the right hand side. Follow the Directional signs. The owner's binding undertakings
1. We, as owners of a. Downes House; b. the land edged in red on the attached map ("the Map"); c. the buildings thereon, with the exception of the modern bungalow and farm buildings immediately to the north and west of Downes Farm, indicated on the said map; d. the chattels shown on the Schedule attached ("the Chattels") hereinafter referred to as "the Property", have applied for designation under Section 31(1)(c) (d) and (e) Inheritance Tax Act 1984 for the purpose of conditional exemption under Section 30 of that Act. 2.
