At THE GLOUCESTERSHIRE ARCHIVES, Archive of the Sharp, Lloyd family

Held at WEMYSS ESTATE

This archive is of outstanding historic interest, both nationally and locally. It includes the papers of a number of individuals who have played a significant role in our national life over four centuries, and also the records of a major Gloucestershire estate. It can be divided into four main sections, as follows: the papers of William Lloyd (1627-1717), Bishop of Worcester the papers of John Sharp (1645-1714), Archbishop of York the papers of Granville Sharp (1735-1813). He had not held high church office like many of his family, but Granville Sharp's prominence as an anti-slavery campaigner means he is unquestionably the best-remembered member of the family the remaining family and estate archive of the Lloyd-Baker family
