The owner's binding undertakings

Alnwick Castle together with other property and land edged red on the map have been conditionally exempted from Inheritance Tax. As a condition of this exemption the owners of the Estate have undertaken as follows: To keep the exterior and interior of Alnwick Castle in good repair. To manage and maintain the Grounds in accordance with an approved Heritage Management Plan. To open Alnwick Castle and Grounds to the public for at least 100 days per annum. The Estate will advertise the opening arrangements in at least one national publication and in the Northumbrian Tourist Board brochures. The Estate will provide a written annual report to the Inland Revenue confirming compliance with the undertakings given.
