THE DERBY COLLECTION: Paintings, portraits and furniture, including works by Stubbs, Gainsborough, Wootton etc. Part of a Collection built up by the Earl of Derby's family since the 14th century, during which time the history of the family has been closely entwined with the history of the country as a whole.
Access
May be viewed at Knowsley Hall, Prescot, Merseyside, L34 4AG by guided tour. This can be seen by guided tour on 5 days each year, in 2017 guided tours will begin the week commencing 02 October. Tickets in advance, required to guarantee entry as numbers are limited, are available by post, email or telephone (see contact details below). Due to the fragility of some items, the whole of the exempt collection cannot be on display, including works by Rubens, Reynolds and Munnings. Access to all exempt items including those relating to the family links with horse racing and inspection books and manuscripts is available at other times by prior arrangement with the owner. Visits by groups or parties also by arrangement.
