The owner's binding undertakings

1. I undertake with respect to the collection, that during my lifetime or until it is disposed of whether by sale or gift or otherwise: (a) to keep the collection as a collection permanently in the United Kingdom and not to remove it or any part of it temporarily except for a purpose and period approved by HM Revenue and Customs ("HMRC") (b) to take reasonable steps for its preservation; these steps will include securing, in the absence of prior agreement with HMRC to the contrary, that - (i) the collection will remain on loan to and in the care and possession of The Museum of Edinburgh (ii) the Museum in consultation with the Edinburgh City Council Museum Conservation staff will assess the packaging of the archive and upgrade it as a matter of priority, with bundles to be retained and stored in archival boxes and fragile photographic material and the pattern book (H240 W355 D15) a h…
