was built in 1766 by the legendary architect, James Paine. Alterations were made by John Dobson in 1817 and further extensions were added in the 1890s. Home to the Beaumont family since 1810, the palladian building sits by the River Tyne in extensive parkland and houses in important collection of furniture,tapestries, porcelain,china and art. There are portraits by John Singleton Copley and George Frederick Watts amongst others.
