Charles I autograph letter signed probably to John Ashburnham, partly in cipher, discussing the Presbyterian attitude to the Monarchy ("?they hould that the Supreme Power is originally in the People, to whom all Magistrats ought to account?") and his negotiations with the Parliamentarians, also referring to a letter to Queen Henrietta Maria originally enclosed, housed in glass, a fragment comprising only the bottom half of the letter.
