A collection of portraits mostly assocaited with the Lowther family including works by Sir Godfrey Kneller, George Romney and Sir Joshua Reynolds amongst others, English and French furniture, silver by Parker & Wakelin amongst others and pocelain closely associated with the Lowther family. A selection of objects from the collection will be on display for one year on a five year rotation at the Lowther Castle Gallery, Lowther Castle, Penrith, CA10 2HH and by appointment at all other times through the contact shown. Details of opening times can be found at www.lowthercastle.org

The owner's binding undertakings
1. We undertake with respect to the Collection, that until it is disposed of whether by sale or gift or otherwise: (a) to keep the Collection, as a Collection, permanently in the United Kingdom and not to remove it temporarily except for a purpose and a period approved by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC); (b) to take reasonable steps for its preservation; (c) to take the following steps to secure reasonable access to the public (i) a selection of objects from the collections will be on display for one year on a five year rotation at the Lowther Castle Gallery, Lowther Castle, Penrith, CA10 2HH and by appointment at all other times.
