SHIANT ISLES
Three small islands lying about 15 miles north of Skye. A site of special scientific interest, they are of exceptional interest to naturalists.
Access
Facilities for public access are extremely limited but is open for individuals and groups of people throughout the year. Information and advice on how to minimise disturbance to wildlife while visiting the islands may be found at www.shiantisles.net or is offered to anyone getting in touch with Scottish Natural Heritage or Tom Nicolson.
The owner's binding undertakings
The owner has undertaken: 1. to give public access to the Islands in accordance with their character as a site of scientific interest; 2. to maintain and preserve the Islands' character, having full regard to their natural beauty and in particular not to introduce non-indigenous plants or animals nor to allow the present grazing system to be altered; 3. to consult the Nature Conservancy Council in the event of any proposed alteration or development of the Islands.
