SCONE PALACE

Once the capital of the Pictish Kingdom and the centre of the ancient church, it has been the seat of parliaments and the crowning place of kings. Set in grounds that have magnificent collections of shrubs and woodland walks containing David Douglas' original fir.

Access

Directions: From Edinburgh Forth Bridge M90, A93, 1 hr. Bus - Regular buses from Perth (including open-top tours). Rail - Perth Station 3m. Motorway - M90 from Edinburgh. Public access allowed to parts of Scone Palace, the Chapel on Moot Hill & the Policies (the area & routes identified on the accompanying map). For health and safety reasons admission will be restricted to some parts of the hatched areas on the accompanying map. In addition, the privacy of those living within the grounds is to be respected at all times. All access will also be subject to any requirements for private functions. Access to the estate buildings is by appointment only. Public access to the wider Policies by way of existing public roads and paths only and on a controlled or licensed basis to the areas hatched/cross hatched on the accompanying map. An admission charge will be made for admission to the State Rooms, exhibition and function rooms and those parts of the Palace immediately contiguous to these, the chapel on Moot Hill and the Policies.
