INVERARAY CASTLE

Built between 1745 and 1790, the Castle is home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll. The Duke is the head of Clan Campbell. Contents include portraits, Scottish, English and French furniture, French tapestries, an unique collection of china, silver and family artefacts, an Armoury Hall containing some 1,300 pieces and an important family archive.

The owner's binding undertakings

3.1. To undertake with respect to the property and to each of the chattels that until my death or it is earlier disposed of whether by sale or gift or otherwise: (a) In so far as the land comprised in the property is of outstanding scenic scientific or historic interest to take reasonable steps for the maintenance of that land and the preservation of its character, and subject thereto to take reasonable steps for maintenance, preservation and repair of the property and each of the chattels, including: i) Inveraray Castle ("the Castle") and its gardens and the Kirkapoll Cross, [the Campbell Monument, the Gatepiers from Roseneath and the Castle Lodge] ("the outstanding buildings") will be maintained in good repair with due regard to its historical importance including where necessary eradicating any dry and wet rot and any major beetle infestations; repairing roofs and rainwater goods …
